Asparagus. Why?

I had asparagus yesterday for lunch.  And it made me wonder, as I always wonder, why?
Well, if Wikipedia is to be trusted, here's the answer:  "Certain compounds in asparagus are metabolized giving urine a distinctive smell due to various sulfur-containing degradation products, including various thiolsthioesters, and ammonia."
