The Bigger the Lie

Last week the LA Times reported that the American Psychological Association has reached the conclusion that "there is no evidence to support the claims of some practitioners that sexual orientation can be changed through therapy."   The article went on to say that "mental health professionals should not tell patients that they can change their sexual orientations and instead should help them 'explore possible life paths that address the reality of their sexual orientation.'"
Alas, the truth is no match for enemies of equality.  Our friends at Focus on the Family had their own take on what the APA meant by those claims.  The title of one article reads:  Psychologists Show Change in Orientation is Not Harmful.  An interesting perspective, I thought.  The article opens with this paragraph:  "A study showing that sexual orientation is changeable and that attempts to change are not harmful was presented at the annual convention of the American Psychological Association (APA) in Toronto on Sunday."
